Genres of the Bible Visual Representation

This is a cool way to see, by color grouping, how much of the Bible is classified in different genres. Keep in mind that many books do not fall neatly into one genre, and that there are a variety of ways the genres and classifications are made. This is just one representation. I won’t lie; the fact that it was colorful helped me in selected this one.

Timeline of the Bible

I like this one because it it keeps the idea of historical context in our minds - and it's just visually well presented. 

Hebrew Alphabet Chart

This is a basic chart just to give some visuals and continuity to exploring the Hebrew alphabet. Some columns might not be as useful, but the pronunciation guide is helpful in and of itself.

Masoretic Text Visual Representation

This is a cool visual for the “pointing” implemented by the Masoretes.

Translation v. Transliteration

This is a super simple diagram, but effectively communicates the difference by way a familiar example.

The Dead Sea Scrolls

This is a virtual library of the Dead Sea Scrolls. You can look at them! How cool is that?

(Mostly) English Translations Visual History

This isn’t comprehensive, and isn’t completely current, but it’s interesting and helpful to see this representation of the heritage of English translations of the Bible.

The HTML Bible

This tool offers the ability to look up selected words through Strong’s Concordance, which is a standardized, widely used way to reference specific words in their original languages.

Passages in Parallel

This is one of many sites that allow you to look at passages side by side in different translations (known as a “parallel” Bible) or just look at different translations in general.
